The elusive sound of the Mississippi Sandhill Crane heard early Sunday morning while we were drinking our coffee. We found 4 of them walking down Crane Lane and 2 foraging by the bayou. What a wonderful way to start the week.
We got our usual morning walk in along the Dees Trail and Crane Lane taking in the nature.
We spent the afternoon getting a few chores done then relaxed at Camp Crane.
Monday morning 6 of the HQ crew were hanging around when we went for a walk.
After our CPR class, we returned to an empty Camp Crane. All the other volunteers have moved on.
While Lauren attended the Saw Refresher course, I got Rap ready for her move to our old spot.
It didn't take the birds long to find the feeders.
We enjoyed a nice peaceful afternoon of armchair birding and listening to the elusive sound of the Ms. Sandhill Cranes.
Tuesday we cooked a good ole breakfast.
While we were out and about working on signs, we checked on both Eagle nests. The Beasley nest had both Eaglets sitting in the nest.
The Martin Bluff nest was empty when we arrived. After getting distracted by Cedar Wax Wings, we looked back and found an adult Eagle in the nest.
We checked on the Rock Hill Family and found Dad feeding one of the chicks. So stinking cute!

We got back, did a little bit of shopping, then relaxed in our quiet campground. Quiet except for the singing of the birds.
It was a windy Wednesday. We walked the Dees Trail and Crane Lane and took very few pictures.
We went to Island View and played our free play. Lauren turned his free play into $75 cash. ChaChing!
After eating the buffet, I came home and crashed while Lauren made another round on the Dees Trail.
We finished up the gate sign project and walked the trails Thursday. After a conversation with the person whose job it is to coral the volunteers, we have decided this is our last rodeo with the Crane Ranch.
I manned the visitor center while Lauren did some grass cutting on Friday.
We manned the visitor center on Saturday. We got a trail walk in along the Dees Trail.
