Bogue Chitto State Park - 1-19-24 - 1-25-24

This has been one cold week.  We started the week in the high 30's and the wind howling.  Most days and nights stayed in freezing temperatures.  The lowest temperature was 10 degrees.  It has been a long time since we have had temperatures this low.

The birds were active on Monday.  They must know that snow is on the way.

It took a couple of days, but we finally saw a bird on our bird feeder, a Chipping Sparrow.

We woke up to snow Tuesday morning and watched it snow for most of the day.

We finally had a break in the snow and got out for a few photos and build a snow man.  The snow was so soft and fluffy, it would not hold together.  So, after quite a bit of finagling, we had a table top snowman, with milk duds for eyes,  a yellow magnet for a nose, and almonds for teeth.

Wednesday, we had a light breeze and blue skies.  We took a leisurely stroll and got a few nature shots in.

By Friday, most of the snow was gone, but the cold wind was still around.
